Cadian Battle Plan
This list used my nearly completed Wyrdvanes, to get them used, as I have had not had a chance to use them yet. With this in mind, I have also brought all my other Psyker models.
The Bullgryns, Priest, Aradia Madellan, Psychic Barrier Astropath and Wyrdvanes run together. Deployed in the centre.
Punishers all deployed together on a flank with 3 Infantry Squads, Creed, Mental Fortitude Astropath, Red and Blue Primaris Psykers.
The other 3 Infantry Squads are on the other flank with the Platoon Commander, Psychic Barrier Astropath and the Yellow Primaris Psyker.
Flanking with Fire
Hellhounds in Strategic Reserve for 2CP.
World Eaters 2,000 Points List
- Chaos Lord
- 10x Warp Talons
- 2x Rhinos
- 20 Berserkers
- 2x Possessed
- Disco Lord
- 2x Venom Lords
- 5x Terminators
World Eaters Secondaries
- The Long War
- Abhor the Witch
Score 4VP for each other the following;
- Control 1 or more Objectives
- Control 2 or more Objectives
- Control more Objectives than the enemy
The other Primary involves completing an action in your opponent’s half of the battlefield to plant explosives. The enemy can remove them via an action. At the end of the game each one remaining that you planted in the opponent’s half scores you 4VP to a maximum of 15VP.
I started to split up the 4 Infantry Squads on my left, to stop the Warp Talons just rolling through them all.
I shifted around a bit and got some shots off on a Punisher into the Warp Talons, killing one or two. But not enough, despite Vengenace for Cadia. That 2+ in the Ruins was rough going.
I did some powers for Nightshroud and Psychic Barriers. I would have to wait for them to come to me…
Everything pushed up and the Warp Talons got into a squad on the left. They killed them all of course, but they could not consolidate into anything else, leaving them open.
The left moved away from the Warp Talons and I brought another Punisher into the centre on the hill.
I got some Smites of this turn including a Big Smite from the Wyrdvanes into the Venom Crawler (Leman Russ) on the left.
My Shooting Phase was poor, with just the Warp Talons being removed. The wounded Venom Crawler (Leman Russ) was not killed and remained on the 3 wounds. Elsewhere the Disco Lord was taken down to 4 Wounds and the other Venom Crawler down to 7. Sadly nothing was outright killed.
I brought on a Hellhound next to the Warp Talons too, but with the Warp Talons removed from other shooting, I put everything into the now exposed Chaos Lord. I then charged him hoping to explode and kill him. But no, the Hellhound was removed and that 4+ needed to explode eluded me!
More pushing forward with the Venom Crawler, Discos Lord, Chaos Lord and 5 Berserkers all getting into combat.
The Chaos Lord ate up infantry and I lost 2 Bullgryns from the Berserkers and Venom Crawler. Luckily I had foreseen this and I had gotten Aradia’s +1 to hit power on them. They killed 4 of the 5 Berserkers. The last Berserker fled in the Morale Phase! Go Bullgryns!
The Disco Lord killed several Guardsmen too next to the building on my right flank. He is well hidden in the photos.
I brought on my other two Hellhounds this turn. One finished off the Chaos Lord and the other finished off the Venom Crawler (Leman Russ).
I got the psychic phase I wanted in this turn. I cast many Smites which killed the Disco Lord, the other Venom Crawler and a Possessed. The Wyrdvanes did a Big Smite again too! This is the only thing I wanted to do with this list, get a good Psychic Phase.
I had Move, Move, Moved the left Infantry unit onto an objective, the most movement I had dared to do all game.
The World Eaters pushed on again with their Terminators and Oblitoraters arriving. The Oblitoraters removed a tank with ease, and then another by shooting again using Endless Cacophony.
Khan came forward now and just mulched through Wyrdvanes. The Berserkers on the left did the same with the Guardsmen I have Move, Move, Moved onto an objective.
Turn 4 & 5
We called the game here and added up the scores.
Not a great score, but a great game and fun list to use. It was hard work again the World Eaters though. They felt like the perfect counter for squishy Guardsmen!
Astra Militarum – 31
World Eaters – 93
