The Ultimate 40K End Point – Is There One?
How would a cash influx effect your hobby?
You know those times when you’re in the shower thinking about winning some lottery and you dream about a new house, car and boat – what happens to 40K in that dream? Is there a 40k end point? Some simple thoughts are contained within.
I’ve come to the conclusion that my 40K hobby would put me in quite the predicament if I won a large amount of cash. I would liken it to using cheat mode on a video game. Having unlimited grenades, RPGs and an armoured truck is only fun for the first five minutes in GTA. Then it just gets boring. The challenge has been removed.
Part of my 40K hobby is striving to complete a model, buy another, build a complete gaming board and improve my hobby skills. Having so much cash that you could buy every model from Games Workshop several times over would take all the fun out of that. I could buy everything and never build it all – there would not be enough hours in a life time.
I could opt for a commission build and paint service. But again that takes all the fun out of it! Someone else is having all my fun building, painting and being creative with my minis!
Win Less Cash?
I don’t think that winning even a smaller amount of cash would impact my hobby at all. I could afford to take some holiday perhaps although I would rather than spend that with my family than buying and building models all day long. I can barely keep up with my building using my regular income let alone with a cash injection. Have you ever won any money, blown it on 40K and regretted it?
Summary
For now I am happy just trudging along with my little Guardsmen and my slow slow progress on them. The odd game keeps me happy too! If I won a lottery then my hobby would not change at all I don’t think – I might just have a whole hobby table rather than just a simple hobby tray.
But lottery gods, I still want to win!
