Necromunda Zone Mortalis Walls and Columns Process

Watching paint dry on a wall has never been so good.

Approximate Reading Time: 2 minutes

I have now locked down the process for painting Zone Mortalis Walls, Columns and Doors. I have documented it here for myself and others. I can return to it in the future and copy it easily.

Painting Zone Mortalis

  1. Prime in the Doors Wraith Bone.
  2. Prime the Walls in Raven Black from Colour Forge. It is a colour match for Corvus Black.
  3. Mask off hazard stripes area and base in Flash Gitz Yellow.
  4. Mask off hazard stripes and complete in Corvus Black.
  5. Dry brybrush the walls and columns with Dark Reaper and then Fenris Dry.
  6. Remove mask.
  7. Tidy up hazards and Wraith Bone.
  8. Apply Rhino Hide with a sponge to the edges.
  9. Apply Leadbelcher with a sponge to the edges but less so than the previous step.
  10. Wash grooves and recesses in Nuln Oil wash.
  11. Use Dark Oath Contrast on the yellow hazard stripe areas and pull to one edge to give a gradient of dark yellow.
  12. Use Dark Oath Contrast for some streaks and general dirt.
  13. The archways were done in Wraith Bone with a brush, which takes ages and then washed with a watered-down Dark Oath – with the wash pulled to the edges.
  14. I used GSW Liquid pigment for the small bright orange rust areas and some streaks/drips.
  15. Thin brush to apply yellow scratches to the black areas of the hazard stripes.
  16. A thin brush is used to tap on Stormhost Silver along all edges.
  17. Flick on Blood for the Blood God for some gore.

I used my new Krydrufi Art Box to paint these models. You can get 15% off yours using code KRYDRUFI-CADIANSHOCK.
