Lord Inquisitor Kyria Draxus Completed
Lord Inquisitor Kyria Draxus is now completed - ready for a painting competition!
After a 6-week break from painting, I got back to it by entering a painting competition at my local store, Boards and Swords – and I decided to do Lord Inquisitor Kyria Draxus.

The model had to be from the store, a hero and painted in September. Entries were anonymous, hence why I am just posting this now and why no progress was posted on my Instagram stories. I was going to do the model on its original base, then a special base. In the end, I did it on a 40mm base, which is why in the photos, it is on a base, then not.
This model is absolutely stunning, by the way. A pleasure to paint and make up a scheme on it as I went along.
Lord Inquisitor Kyria Draxus – Painting
Cloak
The cloak was a blend of the following after base coating it in Khorne Red;
- Troll Slayer Orange (bright orange)
- Naggaroth Night (dark purple)
- Evil Sunz Scarlet (red)
- More Khorne Red
- Druchii Violet (purple wash)
Dragon (Shang)
The dragon used the same mix of reds and purple as above for the red parts of the upper wing and then the following for the blue and underside of the wings;
- Teclis Blue (bright blue)
- Caledor Sky (blue)
- Druchii Violet (purple wash)
- White mixed with Teclis Blue
The blood on the Shang’s mouth is my own hair glued on, then touched up with Blood for the Blood God.
Armour
Finally, the armour, the technique for this, came from Cadian Sergeant Steel.
- Base coat in Abaddon Black
- Dark Reaper – glazed at the edges
- Russ Grey – edge highlight with some glazing
- Fenrisian Grey – further edge highlight
- A finally glaze with Teclis Blue to match the armour with Shang and the eyes
- White edge highlight
